It could pay to be dateless on Valentine’s Day
Ladbrokes Poker appreciate that not everyone will have a Valentine on Monday 14 February, and have decided to embrace all the lonely hearts in a Dateless tournament.
However, it isn’t strictly limited to singletons, as Ladbrokes are also encouraging those who do have significant others to put the Hallmark holiday on hold for the evening and spend it indoors for a chance to win big.
They are giving away cash, as well as prizes for ‘him’ and ‘her’, so poker fans have to make a decision whether to go out with their partners, or stay in with the possibility to win big – which their other halves would also appreciate. Some of the prizes on offer include Gucci perfume for women and radio controlled mini helicopters for men, as well as a £250 prize pool, and £5 from each player.
This is not the first year that Ladbrokes have run with the theme of Valentine’s Day; last year the organised a heads up final between the top girl and top boy, offering the winner a chance to take the runner up on an all expenses paid romantic date to Paris if they wanted to. Unfortunately for Cupid, the winner obliged, giving Ladbrokes reason to abort the traditional Valentine’s spirit this year.
Amy Trodd, a spokesperson for Ladbrokes said, “we tried to play match maker last year and failed, so this year we have decided to be a bit meaner and encourage our players to stay in and win big!”
The tournament starts on 14 February at 7:30 pm from the Ladbrokes Poker main lobby, and buy-in is £10.
