Premier League review: United back on top after Sunday stalemate
All of Sunday’s Premier League games ended in draws as Manchester United climbed back to the top of the table.
United drew 0-0 with Spurs to return to the summit on goal difference, although they have also played fewer games than all their title rivals.
The day’s other games were all derbys, with Sunderland stealing a late draw at home to Newcastle thanks to Asamoah Gyan. Kevin Nolan had given the Magpies the lead early in the second half.
Birmingham v Aston Villa also finished 1-1, with defenders Roger Johnson and James Collins scoring for their respective sides.
A Dirk Kuyt penalty earned Liverpool a 2-2 draw against Merseyside rivals Everton in Kenny Dalglish’s first home game in charge since his return to the club as manager. Everton had come from one down to lead 2-1 before the Dutchman struck from the spot.
The pre-match odds on all four games ending in a draw were 108/1.
