Jedward favourites for Irish Eurovision spot
Pop twins Jedward have been made 8-11 favourites to represent Ireland at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.
The brothers Grimes will perform on Irish TV show The Late Late in February, along with four other acts, in an attempt to win the nomination, which is to be decided by a combination of a public vote and regional juries.
William Hill make them odds-on to triumph and are also offering 33-1 that they will go on to win Eurovision in May. The same price is available on the X-Factor rejects being booed by the crowd during their Eurovision performance.
“Love them or loathe them - Jedward are huge in Ireland and they’ll definitely attract the young Irish voters,” said Hills spokesman Tony Kenny. “The twins also have a big following in the UK – so they’d be almost certain to get douze points from the British jury.”
The Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Düsseldorf on 14 May.
