PokerStars Caribbean Adventure begins today
The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure starts today on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
Held at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino, the 48-tournament series will begin with a $100,000 Super High Roller event that has already attracted the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier and Phil Laak. It is likely to be the largest and richest High Roller event ever.
The $10,000 Main Event commences on 8 January and will run for a week, culminating in a televised final table. Young American Harrison Gimbel took down last year’s title, the 19-year-old coming through a field of 1,529 players to claim the $2.2 million first prize. Organisers are hoping that this year’s event will record even higher entry levels.
The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) was first held in 2004 and has become a regular fixture on the international poker calendar. Previous Main Event winners have included Gus Hansen and Bertrand Grospellier. Last year’s PCA was the inaugural event of the North American Poker Tour.
