Bookies’ fave Simon Cowell overlooked for Honour’s List
Despite the bookies significantly slashing his odds, Simon Cowell did not make the New Year’s honours list. The X-Factor mogul’s odds of getting a knighthood for his contribution to music and charities were dropped from 8/1 to just 1/3 by William Hill.
He helped to raise over £2 million for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, and also supports several charities such as Help for Heroes and Great Ormond Street.
Some of the lucky people who did make the list include The Eurythmics’ Annie Lennox, golfer Graeme McDowell and retired England rugby player Mike Catt.
Bruce Forsyth has been once again overlooked for a knighthood, despite many online petitions from fans. However, bookies have some faith that his time to become Sir Bruce will come, as they have given him odds of 6/1 of receiving the honour before 1 January 2012.
Other Brucie-related bets are surrounding his return to Strictly Come Dancing. Bookies are so confident that Bruce will present the next series of Strictly, that they are only offering meagre odds of 8/11 for him to do so.
