Odds on ‘the other Royal wedding’
2010 has been a year of Royal engagements, as the Queen’s eldest grand-daughter Zara Phillips has been proposed to by her rugby player boyfriend Mike Tindall earlier this week, following on from Prince William’s engagement to Kate Middleton.
As expected, bookies have already started taking bets for the details of the wedding, including the date and place of the big day. Although a number of different markets are already available, with more set to open as time goes on, the most popular are proving to be about the location. St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle is the current favourite, as that is where Zara’s brother Peter got married to his wife Autumn two years ago. Paddy Power are offering odds of 11/10, with Queens Chapel St James second favourite at 11/8.
As 2011 is also the year of the big Royal wedding between William and Kate, which is to take place on 29 April and Paddy Power are also offering odds on whether Zara and Mike’s big day will take place before or after. Odds of it taking place after Wills and Kate are at 1/6, with the two favourite months being August and December, both at 4/1.
