Newcastle United: Alan Pardew firm on Carroll departure
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is adamant that Andy Carroll will not be leaving the club.
The 21-year-old striker has been in excellent form this season, netting 10 goals, and has been linked with a move away from the North East club.
Pardew is insistent however that his star man isn’t going anywhere. "Andy's career path is here," he said. "He just has to keep working hard. We have to have a big-club mentality and hold on to our best players. He has already proved that playing for Newcastle United will not hinder his international career, so why does he need to go?”
A number of top flight clubs have been linked with Carroll, with Sky Bet making Tottenham his most likely destination were he to move in January, a transfer to White Hart Lane priced at 3/1. Next in the betting come Chelsea at 5/1, followed by Arsenal at 8/1.
