Poker Brat to Dance with the Stars?
A tweet from 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth has seen the online forums go wild with speculation as to whether the poker brat will feature in the upcoming series of Dancing with the Stars.
With the rumour being started by the tweet “OMG! Phil Hellmuth (me!) on ‘Dancing With the Stars!’ Outrageous! Might make a fool of myself on national television one more time,” poker blogs instantly began speculating on whether the claims were true.
Certainly, there is a precedent for poker players to star on the show, with Shannon Elizabeth having had a stint on the program that lead to her cheating on her boyfriend with dance partner Derek Hough – and Hellmuth did audition for the show last year.
Hellmuth appeared alongside professional dancer Karina Smirnoff in April 2009, so we know that an appearance on ABC’s top-rated reality TV show has been on the cards for awhile, but detractors think the tweet may just be another publicity stunt.
Whether his latest tweet proves to be the start of the poker brat’s last waltz or whether it’s merely one of the game’s biggest egos crying out for attention, Hellmuth’s latest update certainly seems to have done exactly what he intended.
