Sabres Look to Cut Penguins’ Winning Streak Short
National Hockey League leaders the Pittsburgh Penguins travel to the Buffalo Sabres this weekend looking to extend their phenomenal recent run of form to an unprecedented 12 games.
The two teams currently sit 21 places apart in the overall league standings and are separated by 14 points with the Penguins having played one more game than their opponents this weekend.
However, the underlying story to game on Saturday is the comparative form of the two sides at home and on the road – and if the stats are anything to go by, the tie should favour the visitors in this one.
The Sabres are currently 6-8 at home compared to their superior road form of 6-5, while the Penguins also fare better on their travels with a record of 10-3 in road games as opposed to slightly worse home form of 10-5.
As such, one would expect Pittsburgh to still be top of the pile after the weekend’s games, but should they slip up the Philadelphia Flyers will have the chance to go top when they travel to Boston to face the Bruins on the same day.
