Titan Poker Granted French Gaming License
Titan Poker has become the latest online gambling site to receive a French license after gaining approval from the country’s Regulatory Authority of Online Games.
The site can now therefore offer poker on its new .Fr domain, enabling Titan Poker to compete for a share of what is now officially the second-largest online poker market on the European continent for the first time.
As part of their appeal to secure government approval, the site promised that it would focus on fighting problem gaming in France – specifically by providing its players with a means to regulate their own poker activity.
The site is currently encouraging former TitanPoker.com players to sign up to the French site, with a range of promotions currently available for existing customers who make the switch as well as welcome bonuses for new customers.
The decision of France’s regulatory body, ARJEL, to award Titan Poker a French gaming license is just another example of an overseas operator being permitted to do business in the country and therefore giving French citizens a greater choice of site.
However, although ARJEL has been permitting foreign sites to operate in France since early 2010, critics still say that not enough has been done to open up the market and that ARJEL’s tax levy on overseas operators is still far too high to truly make the country and open market for foreign operators.
