Poker rooms offer extra security
Absolute Poker and UB.com have strengthened their security measures.
The online poker rooms are now providing players with the option for additional user authentication, on top of the current system already provided by the Cereus Poker Network. Players can use a device called a Security
Token, a physical gadget that they must have in their possession and enter a password into to log onto their account. The system is similar to the one used by some online banks and the sites say it will protect a customer’s account “even if a player's password has been compromised”.
“We are committed to doing everything possible to safeguard our network and players and we want to provide every option to boost their personal security, particularly those who keep sick amounts of cash in their accounts day-to-day,” said poker player and UB.com spokesman Joe Sebok.
The Cereus Network suffered much-publicised security problems back in May of this year, after a poker tracking website exposed their use of weak encryption, an issue they soon moved to rectify.
