Extreme Poker taken to new heights.
Interpoker.com will chuck poker players from a plane in anticipation of the next World Series of Poker, and no, this is not an attempt to remove tough competition from the game, but the next Extreme Poker Challenge. ‘Loser’s Leap’ will take to the skies over Las Vegas on the 26th July, and will feature the players that qualified for the event through the site against the Interpoker.com professional poker team. Some of the big names will include Phil Laak and Antonio Esfandiari, who will experience the terrifying ordeal that if they lose, out they go, enough to make the hardiest of the players a little nervous.
In a press release, InterPoker said, "This Extreme Poker event creates an unprecedented challenge for the players to overcome because each of them will have to fight through the stress of knowing that if they lose, they're going to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. In this event, the poker pros aren't just overcoming some discomfort or strange circumstances; there will be a huge element of adrenaline and a degree of genuine fear. That will make for an even more entertaining time for everyone."
Other extreme challenges have taken place underwater on the ocean floor off the coast of St. Kitts in the Caribbean, won by Finnish pro and WPT event champion Juha Helppi, and in the world's largest ice castle, in the city of Kemi, Finland, won by 2002 WSOP winner Robert Varkonyi. Future challenges could see players on suspended platforms and playing in bat infested caves.
