Former WPT Former World Poker Tour winner Mark Newhouse banks Sunday Million
With the customary surge of Sunday online action lasting long into the small hours, once the dust had settled on the virtual felt it was Mark “Newhizzle” Newhouse who emerged as the day’s big winner after landing a $245,897 payday.
The former World Poker Tour champion, who took down the tour’s Borgata Poker Open event back in 2006, added almost a quarter-of-a-million to his impressive roster of career cashes after besting ‘Stars player “rockyone123” heads-up.
The gallant runner-up could not be too dispirited with his performance, however, having taken home $179,697 for his second place finish on a tricky final table that also included poker prodigy and online legend Hevad “RaiNKhAN” Khan.
However, not content with taking down the internet’s flagship Sunday tournament, Newhouse also managed a simultaneous deep finish in the PokerStars Sunday 500 event, where he finished in 13th place to pocket an additional $3,761.25 for the night.
Meanwhile, over on ‘Stars big rival Full Tilt, the Sunday $750k Guaranteed event went the way of “tablepiece” after the online player outlasted a field of 3,500 runners to notch a $111,319 score of his own. The weekend’s other major, the Ultimate Bet $200k GTD, was won by Shane “THEBUBBLE1” Pacheco, who took home $44,920.
