Green Bay Packers earn win over the Baltimore Ravens for playoff hopes
The Green Bay Packers were on the road to victory again after an error filled match gave them a win over the Baltimore ravens. In an error filled contest with more penalties and botched plays than both teams will care to remember the Packers eventually ran out 27-14 winners.
The win has renewed the Packers hopes for a playoff place with their season record now standing at 8 wins and 4 losses. Aaron Rodgers was the man in form on the day and his three touchdowns and 263 yard throw tally was the deciding factor in an otherwise messy game.
In NBA news the returning Allen Iverson couldn’t prevent his team, the 76ers, from losing 93-83 to the Denver Nuggets. Although the NBA star, who previously enjoyed more than 10 seasons at the club, received a warm welcome from the Philadelphia fans his 11 points and 6 assists couldn’t snatch a win for his team. The senior player admitted after the game that he is not yet at his full game fitness but he hopes to repay the fans by getting there as quick as possible.
In other US sports news the former darling of US athletics, Marion Jones, is to be stripped of her gold medals from her performances at the Sydney Olympics. The sprint queen, who had been found to be using performance enhancing drugs, will see her sprint and long jump medals handed over to the other athletes in the field.
The once champion US sports star will never be able to compete in the Olympics again and this latest move by the IOC will certainly be another major blow for the disgraced athlete.
