New Poker game planned for 2010 Television Schedule
The game of Poker is set to continue its emergence into mainstream television with an all new show expected to air in the US New Year. Its concept involves giving amateur poker players the chance to win up to $1 million cash and is described as ‘television’s first family-friendly poker-themed game show’. The programme has been given the name ‘Shuffle up and Deal” and will be hosted by Mike Sexton and will air on the MyTV network- currently available to about 50 million homes across America.
Each 30 minute episode will see five amateurs choose their cards from an electric scoreboard visable to the audience and from them they must negotiate the turn of the cards in a similar way to poker. The objective is to finish with the highest cash earnings. Players that win their respective episode advance into the latter stages with an increasing jackpot rolling over as the series concludes. There is also an interactive game that called ‘Follow the Ace’ that gives audience members a chance to win $10,000.
When questioned by Online casino News host Sexton commented “Poker has been a great source of entertainment for many people for many years but, in order to grow and continue to be the most popular game of all time, poker needs to reach out to a whole new audience.”
