Patrik Antonius wins record-breaking online poker hand
Finnish poker legend Patrik Antonius last night won the largest pot in online poker history, as he bagged a whopping $878,958.50 against his Swedish opponent, who goes by the online handle ‘Isildur1’.
Having recently taken some serious chunks out of Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan, Antonius was competing with Isildur1 across four different $500/$1,000 heads-up deep pot-limit Omaha (PLO) tables, with a series of six-figure pots taking place as the action hotted up.
When the monster pot came around, Antonius spiked an 8 of diamonds on the river to complete a gutshot straight.
The record-breaking hand not only surpasses the previous record PLO pot, which took place between Dwan and Ilari Sahamies ($702,925); it also beats the record pot of all time, a hold’em hand between (surprise, surprise) Dwan and Di ‘Urindanger’ Dang ($723,938).
