Victory for the Phoenix Suns against the Philadelphia 76ers
Steve Nash produced another fine performance, scoring 21 points and 20 assists, to steal the Phoenix Suns a narrow victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. The 119-115 victory saw them go 7-1 in victories for the season and move clear at the top of the Western Conference league ahead of the LA Lakers. Indeed, it took a final quarter surge from the Suns to overturn an eight point deficient to continue their winning start to the season.
In NFL news the Pittsburgh Steelers cruised to an emphatic win against the Denver Broncos, winning by a margin of eighteen points to take the match 28-10. Three second half touchdown passes from Ben Roethlisberger capitalised on the weak defensive play on show by the Broncos. Having rested up after their bye week the Steelers showed little sign of ring rust, limiting their opponent’s to just 27 rushing yards throughout the game. The Super Bowl champions are currently looking like they are on form to repeat their NFL domination and reclaim their title.
Finally, the Kansas City Chiefs finally released their controversial running back Larry Johnson, on the very same day he was scheduled to return from his suspension. The 29 year old has been absent from training for the past month after an incident deemed detrimental to the club by the club’s owners. After reviewing the case in Johnson’s absence the NFL and the Chiefs decided that it was in the club’s best interest to permanently let the player go.
