NBA: Dirk Nowitzki's late show seals win for The Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki scored a club-record 29 points in the last quarter to inspire his team to a fantastic 96-85 victory over Utah Jazz at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday night, in a thrilling encounter that had the crowd on their feet.
Nowitzki’s virtuoso performance came out of the blue as the game drew towards it close, and he lifted the team to victory. Dallas had trailed by 16 points before their late comeback – Nowitzki finishing up with 40 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five blocks.
Jason Kidd also chipped in with a solid 19 points and six assists and Dallas won their third straight game since they went down to Washington on the opening day of the season.
Utah’s top scorers were Deron Williams and Mehmet Okur with 22 and 14 points respectively.
