UK Poker Scene bringing top quality players
The UK poker scene is already brimming with top quality tournaments, notably the GUKPT and the many successful deep stack events at the stunning Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club. Now, the bevy of top tournament offerings for UK players is set to get even better, as the online poker giants Pokerstars have announced details of the UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT). The tour will cover the length and breadth of Ireland, England and Scotland and will begin in December, running throughout 2010, culminating in a grand final at the EPT London in next October.
The country’s premier venues, including Dusk Till Dawn have been earmarked for the tour and with entry fees targeting a wider demographic than many other top events there is little doubt this tour will be a success. With buy-ins ranging from £500 the organisers seem keen to tap into the popular mid-level market that has seen a massive surge in popularity in recent months.
For the regulars there is also added interest as a leader board will award the best performing player of the season a free entry into the EPT £5K London main event. Other smaller prizes, including free entry to season 2 events across the country, are also on offer. With ‘Stars set to run a plethora of satellites there will be no shortage of online qualifiers chomping at the bit to take down some cash, as well as the strong possibility of some high profile Pokerstars pros making an appearance.
Anything involving the Pokerstars brand is usually a great event and bound to attract a huge following and hopefully, for the UK poker scene, this will be no different. Another successful UK tour will provide a major boost for the whole poker community and certainly encourage more players from their computers and into the live arena.
