Online gambling in the UK worth more than $1 Billion
The Gambling Commission in the UK has reported today that the revenue generated by online gambling in 2008 has exceeded $1 billion. The figures were collated from government agencies and the gambling sites themselves.
The UK gaming industry is worth over $15 billion a quarter of that comes from players of the National Lottery which still draws in millions of players each week.
There were 300 licensed online gambling sites in the UK which has risen to 328 recently which is expected to bring in record numbers at next year’s count.
Despite bookmaker giants, Ladbrokes and William Hill moving their operations abroad to avoid high taxation the UK market appears to still be expanding.
