Floyd Mayweather vrs Juan Manuel Marquez
It looks like the Floyd Mayweather Jr is swapping his nickname from 'Pretty Boy' to 'Money' just before his clash against Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday. The unbeaten American fighter, who quit after the knocking out Britain’s Ricky Hatton in December 2007, wants the world to know that "Money" is still the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Money has said that his motivation to comeback to the ring is that he misses the competition and the fans. He also wants to prove that he is the one and only mega-superstar in boxing. The two fighters will be disrobing at the world famous MGM grand in Las Vegas tomorrow, and even though the tickets for the fight are not selling too fast, Marquez will be looking to bag a cool $2m but compared to what Mayweather is looking at, $5m [£3m], its peanuts, no wonder Mayweather wants to change his name to "Money".
It looks like Money will need all the cash he can get considering the Internal Revenue Service is chasing the boxer for unpaid taxes, which adds up to a heavy $6.1m. And last week a Las Vegas bank sued Money for $167,000, which he owes for a Maybach 57S he purchased 2 years before and got it repossessed at the start of the year. He says that he has the money considering he earned $50m in a year back in 2007, but he just doesn’t like giving it to the government.
