Robert Romanello ahead in the English Poker Open (EPO)
The English Poker Open has shown that Great Britain is one of the best and most popular places for the highstakes poker pros to play. 213 players converged on the Dusk Till Dawn yesterday just 3 days before the start of the WSOPE which saw the likes of Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Annette Obrestad take part.
At the end of play yesterday Robert Romanello was chip leader of a day which saw Hellmuth, Brunson and Obrestad all crash out in the first few hours of the tournament.
Play has just gotten underway at the Dusk Till Dawn with only 57 players still seated play will go to the final 9 who will compete for the £208,367 prize money.
This Friday will see the return of the poker pros as the WSOPE kicks off in London’s Empire Casino in Leicester Square where Annette Obrestad will try for a second time to defend her 2006 title after John Juanda’s impressive main event victory in 2008.
