Emmanuel Adebayor to face the rap of FA after actions during Manchester City v Arsenal
The ex-Arsenal forward, Emmanuel Adebayor, actions during the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester City are to be reviewed by the FA this week and ref Graham Poll has said Adebayor should prepare for at least a 3 match ban.
Adebayor scored against his old club Arsenal at the weekend and he chose to run the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the travelling fans. Understandably, this raised the tension amoung the fans which resulted in some throwing objects towards the pitch which rained down on the stewards knocking one out cold.
Soon after, Adebayor went in strongly on Robin Van Persie allegedly stamping on the player which left a gash on his face. The stomp went un-noticed by the ref who could do little about making a decision as the challenge had happened so quickly.
At the final whistle Manchester City had stormed to victory over Arsenal with the final score 4-2.
After the game, no doubt under Mark Hughes' orders, Adebayor rushed to apologies for his actions during the game referring to celebrating in front of his old fans and the disruption it caused. No comment was made on the Van Persie incident during the apology.
