Five to screen SuperCasino.com shows
Viewers of the UK terrestrial television channel Five will be able to bet on roulette without getting up from their sofas soon after the broadcaster signed a deal with interactive gambling group NetPlay TV.
Five, who are owned by RTL, will broadcast NetPlay’s SuperCasino.com (reviewed in the September issue of Gambling) three nights a week from midnight to 4am, starting from 17 September.
From October, the show will be going six nights a week, before going daily in 2010. The partnership has been made possible by communications watchdog Ofcom relaxing their rules for television gambling. Five have an option to purchase 5 percent of NetPlay’s shares as a condition in the deal.
NetPlay already operates on satellite television, but the Five deal brings live gambling to a far greater audience of potentially millions.
