Macau Casinos rake in 1.5 billion dollars despite recession
Casinos in Macau have reported a record $1.5 billion revenue for the month of August which thrashes any previous month and is up by 17% on August 2008.
Many analysts have begun to mark the raise in casino profits a sign that the economy is beginning to stabilize and turn around. Tourist have started flocking to Macau for their casino and gambling fix each year as the casino industry was liberalised and money was pumped into improvements and new projects.
Las Vegas, in its day, was the best place to go to gamble at the vast casinos but now in Macau, with all the extra money being invested, brand new, casino complexes are being built. Macau has taken over Las Vegas in gambling revenue. Las Vegas average gambling revenue is $471.25 million.
