Asian Poker Tour (APT) won by poker amateur Adrien Allain

Adrien Allain has taken the crown of the 2009 Asian Poker Tour coming up trumps against a strong field of 325 players. Allain walks away with $3 million HK for his first place.

The APT was this year held at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino and hosted a record number of players for the main event. American JC Tran finished 3rd overall taking a tidy $910,000 HK back to the States.

Adrien Allain said “I’m incredibly happy and never thought I would get this far, the level of poker in Asia is pretty high and I’m happy I had the opportunity to beat some of the professional players here.” He made the tournament after winning a $5 qualifier at online poker site PKR.

The event lasted a record-breaking 12 days to find the winner and poker stars from around the world flew in to take part – Johnny Chan, JohnJuanda, Liz Lieu and David Rheem were just some of the big names at the tables.
