FremantleMedia and MGM partner in online gambling deal
FremantleMedia, one of the largest creators and producers of entertainment brands in the world, has announced an agreement between its FremantleMedia Gaming (FM Gaming) division and MGM Interactive, Inc. (MGM) to develop a selection of MGM’s popular film and television brands into online casino-style games for operators and players in select countries around the world, outside of the US.
Under the agreement, FM Gaming will have the exclusive right to develop online casino-style games based on hit MGM titles such as Fame, the Stargate franchise including the new series, Stargate Universe, Robocop and the classic “Spaghetti Westerns” including A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Paul Kanareck, head of ventures, FremantleMedia, said: “This deal demonstrates our ambition to become a leading publisher of branded games in this exciting market. FremantleMedia recently grew its presence in the broader gaming market with a minority stake in interactive games developer Ludia, and we’re now investing further into the online gaming sector. MGM have a fantastic range of movie titles that are known and loved around the world across generations and we’re looking forward to developing these into great games for online casino operators and their audiences.”
The deal will allow FremantleMedia to grow its presence in the global real money gaming market by working alongside MGM to capitalise on the potential of MGM’s famous film and television brands. The deal will build on FM Gaming’s experience in developing its own hit television shows such as The Price is Right and The X Factor into online games for a range of internet casino operators.
David Davis, executive producer, MGM Interactive, said: “MGM’s vast library includes some of the world’s most popular film and television brands, so it makes sense that we partner with a company such as FremantleMedia, which is at the top of its game when it comes to brand extension. Seeing the work that FremantleMedia has accomplished with its own television brands, we are confident that its FM Gaming division will be a terrific strategic partner for MGM.”
