Poker Pro Phil Hellmuth to Host Hold’em for Heroes Tournament
Eleven-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, Phil Hellmuth, has announced that he will once again be hosting the Hold’em for Heroes charity tournament in a bid to raise money for police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Hellmuth will team up with the Taser Foundation for Fallen Officers and a host of fellow poker pros to stage the fifth year of the charity tournament, which will take place from November 19-21 at the Fort McDowell Casino in Arizona.
Last year, the event was labelled ‘the most successful charity poker tournament in the country’ by the poker media after it raised over $500,000 for the families of fallen law enforcement officers, and Hellmuth will be hoping that this year’s tournament will be able to do even better.
In a press release sent out by Ultimate Bet, Hellmuth explained: “over the last several years, and especially since 9/11, my respect for policemen, firemen and the people who protect us has risen higher and higher.
“Our Hold’em for Heroes charity poker tournament gives money to the Fallen Officers Foundation, which supports officers and the families of officers who were killed in the line of duty. My friends and I are grateful to these brave men and women and we are proud to help.”
Hellmuth will be joined at the event by his fellow Ultimate Bet cohort Brandon Cantu, along with big name poker players Antonio Esfandiari, Todd Brunson, Kenna James, Clonie Gowen and Roy Winston. Additionally, country music artist Mark Wills has also confirmed that he will co-host the event with Hellmuth, which will also feature a celebrity golf tournament alongside the poker.
