Australian Cricketer approached by match fixer before final Ashes test
A corruption crisis has erupted just before the final Ashes test against England is set to take place. It has been reported that one of the Australian team has been approached by a man who is linked to a number of illegal bookmaking and match fixing scandals.
The Aussie cricketer, who is un-named and also not suspected of any wrong-doing, was approached at their London hotel after they were defeated by England - the player immediately reported the incident and it was passed to the ICC’s Anti Corruption and Security Unit for further investigation.
Earlier this summer players were reported to have been approached before the World Twenty20 tournament by illegal bettors trying to fix the matches.
The Brit Oval will play host to the final test this week, Allan Border of the Australian team has said that England are “shot” and have no chance of making a come-back against the Aussies even with Andrew Flintoff coming back from injury.
