NFL ban Donte Stallworth after drink driving death

13/8/2009
Donte Stallworth has been suspending from playing in the entire NFL 2009 season for his team the Cleveland Browns after driving under the influence of alcohol and killing a pedestrian.

Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner told Stallworth that he would be banned for breaking NFL substance abuse polices. The incident took place in March when Stallworth had been drinking at a bar on Miami Beach then got behind the wheel of his Bentley and subsequently killed a 59 year old construction worker.

Stallworth was handed 30 days in jail, 2 years house arrest and community service time – he is also paid an undisclosed sum to the family of the deceased.

He cannot take part in any team activities until February 2010 when he can rejoin the Browns.
