Michael Schumacher u-turn on F1 comeback
Michael Schumacher has decided that a neck injury sustained during a motocycle accident earlier this year has put an end to his attempt to temporarily return to F1 to replace the injured Filipe Massa.
The seven-time World Champion has said that he was forced to tell Ferrari President, Luca di Montezemolo that he would be unable to step up and race after numerous medical attempts to make the neck injury bearable whilst racing.
According to reports Schumacher had been putting in great times at test tracks in an old 2007 Ferrari F1 car but his neck would simply not take the strain during a full race. Luca Badoer who is a Ferrari test driver will take the wheel next week for the European Grand Prix.
Filipe Massa is said to be making a speedy recovery and despite believing that he would be able to race again this season it is doubtful he will return until 2010.
