Top players continue to be linked with moves away
Bookmakers are continue to see plenty of traffic for a number of will they/won’t they transfer sagas involving Premier League players this summer.
Chelsea captain John Terry, Everton centre back Joleon Lescott, Villa’s flying winger Ashley Young and Portsmouth’s beanpole centre forward Peter Crouch all continue to be the subject of much speculation regarding which club they will be at come the start of the new season.
Terry is now expected to stay at Chelsea, resisting the lure of untold riches on offer at Manchester City. Skybet have him at 1/8 to remain at Stamford Bridge, and 4/1 to take the money and run up to Eastlands.
Lescott meanwhile is considered a far more likely candidate to join the moneybags revolution at Man City, with Skybet rating him a 4/11 bet to make the move, and 2/1 to stay put at Everton.
Ashley Young has enjoyed a couple of great seasons at Villa Park – could he be off this summer? The bookies think probably not – he’s a 1/3 shot with Paddy Power to stay, who also make him a 6/1 shot to join both Tottenham and Liverpool, and 9/1 to go to City.
Crouch is looking likely to move. He’s 5/6 to be at Spurs after the transfer window closes, and 7/2 to remain with Portsmouth. He’s also 11/8 to join Fulham and 12/1 and 14/1 to join Arsenal and Liverpool respectively.
