Las Vegas Prepares for the World Series of Barbecue
One of Vegas’ most popular non-poker events, the World Series of Barbecue, is again set to return this summer – and with it comes the launch of the inaugural Suzi and Howard Lederer Celebrity Charity Poker Tourney.
The power poker couple – who host the World Series of Barbecue each year – decided to add a poker tournament to the roster of activities in a bid to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club and have put up some fabulous prizes for what promises to be one of the most prestigious poker gatherings of the summer.
The event will take place on July 1 at the Golden Nugget Casino in downtown Vegas, with a meet-and-greet taking place at 3.00pm before the tournament kicks off an hour later. The buy-in for the Celebrity Challenge Tourney is $330 – with $200 rebuys and a $100 add-on – and participants are required to enter the tournament and purchase two rebuys to gain admission to the evening’s barbecue festivities.
All proceeds from the tournament will go directly to the Boys and Girls Club charity, but a selection of one-of-a-kind poker prizes – including a seat in NBC’s popular late-night poker program ‘Poker After Dark’ – will be up for grabs for the lucky winners.
Following the tournament, the Barbecue party will commence at the famed Tank at the Golden Nugget from 6.00pm, with a special fireworks display set to bring the night to a spectacular conclusion later in the evening.
