England U21 v Germany U21 European Championships Final
The final of the U21’s European Championship takes place tonight in Sweden as England take on Germany in an under 21’s style 1966.
The mind games between the two teams took form as Germany (playing as the home team) late last night decided to change their strip colour to red – the same as England did in 1966 when they went on to win the World Cup final in the dying moments.
Much of the success of Stuart Pearce’s U21 team has been put down to the stricter, professionalism that Fabio Capello has bought to the camp. It was reported recently that he has banned any music being played in the dressing room at half-time and before the matches to keep the players focus on nothing but the game.
So far England has punished teams from free kicks around the box and from corners, the impressive deliveries coming from James Milner. However this may become un-stuck in the final tonight as the German defence is tall and strong.
Kickoff is set for 7:45 BST and you can watch the game live from Malmo New Stadium, Sweden on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports HD1 and tune in on BBC Radio Five Live.
