PokerStars Announce Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Season 3 Schedule
Online poker giants PokerStars have announced the schedule for the third year of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour, with the five-stop tour again kicking off in Macau on August 24.
There, the APPT will get the new season underway in true style with a HKD $40,000 event at the Grand Lisboa Casino in the People’s Republic of China before moving on to South Korea, New Zealand and the Philippines. The tour will then head over to Australia to wrap up its five-month journey at Sydney’s StarCity Casino in December.
The APPT has become the largest poker tour serving the growing Pacific Rim poker market and generates prize-pools to rival any tour currently operating in the US or Europe. As a result, APPT events frequently sell-out and attract fields including some of the biggest names in live poker.
Last year, the APPT attracted some 1,772 players over the five stops on the tour, generating a total prize pool of just under $5 million USD. Of the players who entered throughout the course of season two, over a quarter were PokerStars players, and PokerStars.com is currently running online satelittes to all APPT events on this year’s tour.
