World Cup Qualifiers: England vs. Andorra Betting Preview

10/6/2009
Action resumes this evening with another round of World Cup qualifying matches, and once again England are heavy favourites to maintain their unbeaten record in the campaign.

Following on from their 4-0 win against Kazakhstan in Almaty, England now entertain footballing minnows Andorra. While backing the home nation at 1/100 on might not be the quickest way to accumulate your millions, there are still some interesting bets worth consideration. Firstly, the ‘banker’ seems to be the 1/10 on offer with Extrabet for an England half-time/full-time win. An England side with the likes of Rooney and Gerrard in the line-up should be too much for a brittle Andorran defence, so the half-time/full-time shout seems safe enough.

Another market always worth looking at in the classic ‘Dave vs. Goliath’ matches is the correct score. While Robert Green wobbled slightly in the opening 15 minutes in Almaty, you could expect an England clean sheet tonight, leaving you to ponder how many goals the Three Lions can score. With a likely run-out for the likes of fringe players Carlton Cole and Peter Crouch, there will be plenty of players keen to get on the score sheet, so a 5-0 or 6-0 prediction seems to be the order of the day. Ladbrokes are offering 5/1 and 7/1 respectively, making each worth a flutter.

Value bet: Steven Gerrard, first scorer – 11/2 Boylesport.
