Lisa Hamilton wins WSOP event #17
The great Frenchman may have yet to show off his skills at this year's WSOP, but that hasn't stopped one of "ElkY"'s good friend from picking up a bracelet of her own. Lisa Hamilton, took down the title in the $1,000 Ladies Championship, bagging a tidy $195,390 into the bargain.
It was a swift final table, with only four hours deciding the fate of the final nine when the 37 year old Hawaiian, railed by Elky and fellow poker pros, beat Lori Bender on the final hand, both players hitting the J-3-8 with the monster that is Q-8 and 9-8 respectively. The Q kicker was good enough to send Bender to the rail.
Hamilton outlasted an impressive field of 1,060 that included familiar faces Erica Schoenberg, Kristy Gazes, Liv Boeree, and the wonderfully named Tamara Tibbles.
