Illinois says yes to online gambling on horses
Lawmakers in Illinois have, this week, approved a bill which allows the state to participate in online gambling. The only covers horse race betting.
The bill was easily passed by the House in an 87 to 27 in favour vote but turned down a bigger part of the bill that had been passed by the Senate by voting against having the law expand and allow casino online gambling.
Illinois lawmakers are still unsure as to whether the new rule will be affected by the UIGEA which makes it illegal to transfer funds from banks to online gambling sites.
The new law will break the federal UIGEA law by allow money to be passed from banks to online bookmakers and any winnings paid directly to the winners account and then passed back to the players bank account.
