Yevgeniy Timoshenko wins the WPT Championship in Las Vegas
Ukrainian national Yevgeniy Timoshenko, who was raised in Washington State and surprisingly just turned 21, has just took the title and the prize money of $2.1 Million of one of the most prestigious poker tournaments in the world, the World Poker Tour championship, which was held at the world famous Bellagio Hotel and Casino.
The WPT Championship is said to be one of the hardest tournaments on the poker circuit, and it attracts the best players from around the globe, even with the $25,000 buy-in fee, it’s second only to the WSOP main event. There was over 300 players that battled in the Bellagio for the top prize, and the prize pool that it created was over $8.4 Million, but only the top 50 that walked away with any money.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko has been playing online poker for quite some time now, and he has quite a few titles under his belt. He won $250,000 during the Sunday Millions competition held by the online pokerroom PokerStars,he done this back in November 2006. As well as a number of victories in the $100 and $200 re-buys. He has also been playing in countries where it is legal for him to play.
WPT was not Timoshenko’s first major event, he has had significant wins in some of the other big name events. His C.V. also has Irish Poker Open, Paris Open, the Aussie Millions and most notably the 2008 APPT Macau main event.
