Scotty Nguyen on Course For WPT World Championship Poker Glory

24/4/2009
The sight of Jennifer Harman’s aces getting cracked at the WPT World Championship meant it was close of play on Day 5 of the Season VII showpiece with 10 players remaining.

Harman took just over $81,000 for her 11th place finish, and it's her Full Tilt co-pro Scotty Nguyen who leads the chip counts going into Friday. More exciting still, if Scotty takes down this WPT World Championship, he’s poised to be the biggest EVER tournament cash winner, overtaking Jamie Gold since that WSOP win in 2006. It may all over, baby, for Scotty's opponents come the weekend.

The 10 remaining players will play down to a final table of 6 who return on Saturday. Currently the chip counts stand like this:

Seat 1 - Justin Young - 4,220,000
Seat 2 - Elky Grospellier - 1,965,000
Seat 3 - Bruno Fitoussi - 1,615,000
Seat 4 - Scotty Nguyen - 5,880,000
Seat 5 - Brian Rast - 3,025,000
Seat 6 - Eugene Katchalov - 2,385,000
Seat 7 - Shannon Shorr - 3,155,000
Seat 8 - Yevgeniy Timoshenko - 5,105,000
Seat 9 - Christian Harder - 4,650,000
Seat 10 - Ran Azor - 1,810,000
