LA Lakers Betting Odds Improving
After the loss of Manu Ginobili from the Spurs the odds of the LA Lakers to win have dramatically improved.
On Monday the Spurs lost their superstar Manu Ginobili for the rest of the season, however, the Lakers will be showing no sympathy after their own loss of Andrew Bynum for the majority of the year.
After showing a stress fracture on his ankle Ginobili will not be making another appearance for the rest of the season. This has lead to the odds of San Antonio winning the 2009 NBA Championship to plummet to only 15/1 from 8/1 at the start of the season.
Until the loss of Ginobili the Spurs were predicted to be one of the only teams who could beat the Lakers in the playoffs however now a win seems very unlikely, if not impossible. This leaves the only one team between the Lakers and the conference title the Denver Nuggets.
Also, if rumours are correct, the Thursday game of LA versus Denver could see the return of Andrew Bynum after missing 32 games due to a torn ligament in the knee. This sees the betting odds for the Los Angeles Lakers rise to 8/5 for the team to win the 2009 NBA Championship.
Others have the Cleveland Cavaliers as the favourite to win the season ahead of the LA Lakers. The team has shown good play at home and if they get home court for the playoffs they will be a tough team to beat having lost at home only once all season.
