888 reports a rise in casino profits as poker dwindles
888, one of the largest online gambling companies in the industry has reported a 6% rise in profits from its online casino in a full year. This has offset the decline in profits that their poker room has incurred.
The company are looking forward to a prosperous 2009 as they recently announced they would be providing services to the already successful Racing Post. They also sealed another 14 agreements to providing online gambling to companies last year.
888 reported their profits at £34.2 million for 2008 and hope to see this increase over 2009 with all the extra projects the company has taken on board.
The recession has been blamed for the decline in poker players playing as regularly online but this could also be done to the number of new poker rooms that appear every week for a slice of the gambling boom.
