PokerStars Launches Moneymaker Millionaire Tournament.PokerStars.com, the online casino, is launching the Moneymaker Millionaire tournament to offer the average poker player an opportunity to be part of a $2.5 million prize pool. This tournament is unique as it free to enter, so anybody can potentially get to the final and share in the prizes, which include an Aston Martin DB9 Volante, a trip to the exotic Bahamas to play down to one winner in the Moneymaker final, and a $1 million first prize at the main event.
In 2003, Chris Moneymaker stunned the poker world by becoming the first, unknown, and amateur player to win the World Series of Poker, netting a cool $2.5 million, the same amount in the Moneymaker Millionaire prize pool. Chris’ win in 2003 is considered one of the major reasons that online poker’s popularity skyrocketed. Chris played all his poker at PokerStars.com and said ‘PokerStars.com gave me the experience I needed to become a champion. Now everyone, regardless of their poker experience, has the chance to win part of a gigantic prize pool of $2.5 million – the same amount I won in the World Series of Poker.’
First time entry is free for new and existing members. The next five months will see a series of daily, weekly, and monthly online tournaments at PokerStars.com where players can compete to be one of twenty-seven finalists. These finalists will each receive an all expenses paid trip for two to the Bahamas for one week at the luxurious Atlantis Island Resort, which will be the setting for the final tables of the Moneymaker Millionaire tournament.
PokerStars.com is the world’s largest poker tournament website with over five million registered users and has to date dealt over five billion hands, awarding well over $4 billion in prize money.
