Andy Murray Wimbledon Grand Slam Would Net Thousands For One Lucky Fan Most of Britain is willing Andy Murray to take home the Wimbledon Grand Slam this weekend, but the emotions of fans on centre court will be nothing compared to those of one tennis enthusiast.
Merfyn Griffiths has much more than just national pride resting on Murrays exploits in the coming days. He is moving closer to collecting a massive £16,000 prize after he placed a bet five years ago with bookmaker William Hill wagering that Scottish star would win Wimbledon before or in 2010.
Graham Sharpe, spokesperson for Hill explained “He contacted me in August 2004 when he bet £60 at 200/1 on Andy winning Wimbledon, and a further £40 at 100/1 for him to win any Grand Slam tournament. So, if Andy wins Wimbledon both bets will be won.”
