Kentucky Court Calls Online Casinos Chicken

The Kentucky Supreme Court case concerning the seizure of 141 internet gambling website domain names has taken an unusual turn as the state ruled it would not hear the case unless the casino operators themselves came forward to oppose it.

Up until this point, the case against the state had been brought forward by industry group iMEGA, but in a seemingly bizarre decision by the Kentucky court, they ruled that the organisation had no standing to represent online casinos in their struggle.

The decision, which was put forward in a short, 17-page document, has caused outrage among similar groups concerned with internet freedom – a cause cited by President Obama as being important to him in his election campaign – as they say if Kentucky is successful, any government has free reign to make websites disappear.
