He may be part of one of the most famous boy bands in the history of pop music, but that doesn’t mean the poker craze has past by Take That star Jason Orange. The singer is reportedly obsessed with poker, along with his four brothers, and plays the game at every opportunity. So enthusiastic about the game is Jason that a giant 3ft poker table cake was created for his 40th birthday. The poker mad singer hosted a party last weekend at Manchester’s Great John Street hotel and was presented with the comic cake, complete with miniature players, cards and poker chips. Amongst the revellers keen to sample a slice of the gambling themed cake were Jason’s band mates, including Robbie Williams.

In recent times more and more celebrities have become interested in poker. Indeed, the likes of Shane Warne, Audley Harrison, Evander Holyfield and Shannon Elizabeth were all present at this year’s World Series of Poker. The mass appeal of the game is a testament to its excitement, diversity and accessibility. With more and more people taking up the game than ever, moreover, with governments finally realising the games potential, the future is looking bright for the most popular card game in the world.
