Poker Pro Annie Duke Becomes Heads-Up Queen

While masked bandits were busy raiding the cashier’s desk at the recent European Poker Tour event in Berlin, it was female poker pro, and sister of Howard Lederer, Annie Duke who was pinching all then chips across the Atlantic. The Ultimate Bet ambassador has become the most recent winner of the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship beating fellow female Vanessa Rousso to become the first woman to win the event.

Duke’s has been notable by her absence from the felt over the past three years but her time spent forging a new career as a reality TV star doesn’t seemed to have dampened her skills. The tournament boasted a number of top players including former champions Chris “Jesus” Ferguson and Andy Bloch as well as the inimitable Phil Ivey. Luck was certainly a lady though as Duke managed to see off each of her opponents with relative ease, owing her victory to a new, more positive, mindset. Overall she scooped a massive $500,000 for her efforts taking her total lifetime earnings to well over $3 million.

The show is set to air on American TV station NBC from April 18th and although Duke’s win will be the main attraction there were a number of interesting tussles throughout the event.
