Charity poker night to raise funds for Gary Parkinson Trust Middlesbrough football club are holding a charity poker evening in aid of the Gary Parkinson Trust.
The exclusive red carpet Parky Poker event is being hosted by the Grosvenor G Casino Stockton on Tuesday 28th February, with a number of former Boro stars including Colin Cooper, Gary Hamilton and Lee Turnbull set to attend.
The evening includes a champagne reception and buffet, while the casino are adding £500 to the prizepool.
Former Middlesbrough defender Parkinson suffered a stroke in September 2010 and has ‘locked-in syndrome’, a condition where patients are aware and awake but cannot move or communicate.
The proceeds from the evening will support Parkinson’s rehabilitation as well as his family.
The 44-year-old, who played 250 games for Boro between 1986 and 1993, currently works for the club as a scout, giving manager Tony Mowbray his opinion on players by blinking.
