Chris Lines has been working as a journalist and editor since 2003, when he graduated from City University’s Magazine Journalism postgraduate course. He then cut his wings at a business publication, Host City, which looked at the organisation involved in staging major international sporting events, particularly the Olympic Games and the World Cup. He was involved from the start in the magazine’s launch and was the first Western journalist that Olympic authorities allowed in for a sneak peak during the construction of the Beijing Olympic Stadium. Chris edited Host City until summer 2007 when the chance to move into consumer magazines came with Gambling Online Magazine.
After an enjoyable spell as GOM’s deputy editor, Chris made the step up to editor in summer 2009, tasked with making the magazine more dynamic, more informative and more useful as a resource to help readers significantly improve their gambling prowess.
Chris’s favourite gambling win of all time was when a bookmaker electronically tagged two dozen albatrosses and took bets on which one would complete its seasonal migration first. Chris’s bird romped home in first for a juicy payout. His poker game ‘needs some tweaking’ by his own admission, though he does bring in a modest profit playing on the PKR site.

Jon Young has been a firm fixture in the poker industry for several years. Originally coming from a fine art background, he began writing an online blog about his local pub game before being asked to write light-hearted features and reports for websites in the UK and America. Shortly after, he moved on to become a staff writer on established print magazines before becoming a full-time poker editor in his own right. He now joins Players Publishing Ltd as one of the UK’s most experienced poker journalists.
Over the course of his journalism career, Jon has played in and covered some of the biggest events in the world, including the Irish Open, GUKPT and WSOP in Las Vegas. Sadly his career winnings have never matched those of the world-famous pros he’s played against.

Duncan Wilkie is a graduate of the NCTJ accredited BA in Sport Journalism at The University Of Brighton and has been working in the gambling industry since the close of his course in July 2007. After graduating with a first-class honours degree and full NCTJ credentials, Duncan began working across a range of titles specifically targeted at the poker market.
Although not yet 23, in the two years since his graduation Duncan has progressed rapidly in the world of journalism and has already covered some of the biggest events on the poker calendar. He has written reports and features on the World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour, European Poker Tour, UK-based events including the GUKPT and GCBPT as well as comprehensively covering poker from the grass roots up at amateur level.
Additionally, in the first couple of years in his fledgling career in journalism, Duncan has interviewed some of biggest names in poker and maintained his passion for sport, not least his first love, football. While working within the poker and sports betting market he has written a wealth of sporting news for print magazines and websites and recently had a feature on the current Premier League football season published.
Now a member of the GOM team, Duncan aims to bring a fresh perspective and set of ideas to the gambling industry as well as providing insightful and informative opinions on a wide range of sporting events and gambling-related issues. Despite his relatively short time in the field, Duncan has amassed a wealth of experience that belies his years, both in fields of journalism and in poker, where he currently operates as a sponsored online pro for a leading poker site.
Daniel Smyth first developed a passion for writing during his time at college and quickly discovered he possessed a natural flair for the written word. While honing his skills at university he, like many others, found himself swept away by the global poker craze and slowly began to immerse himself in the world of online poker.
After completing his English degree he had a dream and that dream was to fuse the two passions in his life: writing and poker. With that goal in mind he began to produce poker articles in his spare time in an effort to establish a name for himself in the gambling industry. After finally being given a chance to interview one of the biggest poker names in the world he went on to successfully produce freelance content for a variety of online and print publications. Daniel’s work soon caught the eye of esteemed editor Jon Young and he was eventually offered a position within the highly regarded editorial team at Players Publishing.
Daniel has produced countless interviews, features and strategy articles and is currently one of the highest ranked online sit-and-go players at his respective level. Within his articles he hopes to spread his extensive knowledge of the game and inspire new lines of logical thoughts amongst his readership. In every aspect of life Daniel lives by the simple motto: “heart and commitment.”

Phil ‘Poker Brat’ Hellmuth finally breaks in San Jose It may have been 28-year-old relative unknown McLean Karr who took down the the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star title, but it was Phil Hellmuth who stole the show in San Jose with one of his trademark blow-ups.
Hellmuth, who started the day second in chips, was sent packing in sixth place when his pocket queens were busted on the river by Andy Seth’s A-J. The Poker Brat took the beat worse than usual, curling into a ball at the side of the stage, prompting an open letter to the 11-time WSOP bracelet winner from Tony G.
"Dear Phil, I heard you talking in Vegas about PEMM (Positive, Exercise, Moment and Meditation) and laughed heavily. Yes Phil, all the A-list action and people coming up to you recognising you all the time had flipped you out,” he mused on his blog.
With tongue firmly in-cheek, the G went on: “It was clear Read More...
