Top Mobile Gaming: Bwin
Norbert Teufelberger, Co-CEO, Bwin
What sets Bwin apart from the competition?
We have been able to expand upon our broad mobile line-up.
We now have the biggest sports
betting line-up with over 90
different sports and 9,000 bets
per day, 15 mobile games such
as Casino, European Roulette,
Blackjack, 5-reel slot games and
jackpot games, as well as Mobile
Poker, with the biggest mobile
poker network around. All of
this is available in 22 languages
and supports 18 different
currencies. In addition, we have
also launched a Poker Clock at
the Apple iTunes AppStore. As
a company, we look forward to
further expanding our market
leadership in the online gaming
sector over the coming year.
What has been the company’s
biggest breakthrough in 2009?
On the one hand, there is our
poker platform, P5, in which
we invested 250 ‘man years’ of
development time to set all-new
technical benchmarks. On the
other, we have developed a new
live betting interface which
is intended to attract new
customers as we continue
to grow.
What has been the
biggest hurdle you’ve
had to overcome?
The everyday challenge of
making sure we keep our fingers
on the pulse at all times in such
a fast-paced market sector. In an
industry as competitive as mobile
gaming, if you hesitate, you get
left behind.
As far as you can disclose at this
time, what milestones are you
striving for in 2010?
We want to stay on the pulse with
technological evolution, continue
to deliver state-of-the-art products
to our mobile customers
and expand our support for
enhanced mobile devices and
new mobile platforms.
Having witnessed a number
of mobile gaming companies
fold in 2009, what steps did
Bwin take to ensure such
successful growth over the
previous 12 months?
We set ourselves the challenge
of being a market leader. This
principle has always been
the guiding force in all of our
efforts and is the reason for our
continued success in the industry.
