What was the biggest breakthrough at Orbis in 2008?
Really our biggest breakthrough in 2008 was our new client wins and expansion of existing client remits. Two such client wins were Betfair Arcade and William Hill.
With the help of OpenBet Fixed Odds and Casino Games, Betfair launched the Betfair Arcade. The arcade contains over 60 games, including 17 with large progressive jackpots, and many new games appearing monthly. One of the arcade’s most popular games is a unique OpenBet Fixed Odds game concept ‘Betfair Reactors’, which stars the creator of the Betfair betting exchange.
Orbis OpenBet software has made it possible for Betfair players to see which games are the most popular, how much money players have won, how many spins have been played in the last 24 hours, and players can personally rate each game. They can even see exactly how much money, in total, has been returned by Betfair to players in the last seven days. These features are a groundbreaking first in online gaming.
Next, William Hill agreed heads of terms for purchase and implementation of the Orbis OpenBet technology platform. Following the successful launch of OpenBet Sportsbook in November 2008, William Hill is now able to compete on a level playing field with their competitors, especially for the number and variety of events and in-running markets they can offer.
Through Orbis OpenBet, William Hill has replaced their Interactive sportsbook technology system with the new, more flexible OpenBet Sportsbook. They have received a complete redesign to their back office and sports-betting software system, which is complimentary to its existing range of online gaming products. The OpenBet Sportsbook solution provides William Hill with a stable and flexible platform for future growth allowing more functionality and offering more bet types and further opportunities for its customers.
What has been the biggest hurdle to overcome?
The biggest hurdle to overcome for Orbis has been hiring enough staff to meet the demands of our clients. Luckily we are very good employers, so high-quality staff usually come to us in the end!
As much as you can disclose, what milestones are you striving for in 2009?
Our main goals for 2008 are to continue to grow and outperform our competition.
What sets Orbis apart from its competition?
The main differentiator of Orbis is the technical excellence and ability of our staff. The truly single-account product set we offer and our open platform for content as well.
